Before and After Pictures of my back patio

Yeah, this isn't makeup related. BUT some of you have homes and/or like to see home improvement projects, especially when you do it yourself rather than hiring pros. Some of you expressed interest in my home decorating and improving, so I wanted to share these photos with you. Here's what our patio looked like when we bought the house:

Not sure why the previous owners added a crappy deck. It was rotted and nails were sticking out of it when we got it. That thing was the first to go! So gross! They left their grill too, which was also thrown out.

Here's what our patio looks like now:
Huge improvement!

There were umbrella holes in the 2 tables we pushed together to make a larger table. We put solar lights in the umbrella holes for table lighting. Was an after thought but it works really well and looks cool at night.

Fire pit with chairs and tables for cocktails.

This is where the hot tub will go. Oh yeah!

Jason in the back ground cleaning up.

Empty space for when we have large gatherings. Hello BBQ parties! (you can see my insane veggie garden just past the shed)

So there you go. Hope you enjoyed this. I have a few more home projects I will post when I have time. :-)

  1. Wow, it looks amazing!

I'm still trying to make improvements on my new house... But I've only been here since July, so I've got some time. The first thing I want to do is put pea gravel down in the backyard to cover the plastic stuff they laid down instead of grass... I have some nice plants but it looks so horrible with plastic and weeds around them.

  2. Isn't it amazing what a little bit of stone can do? We put a patio on our south lawn, and erected a tent, it was our summer Morrocan escape. We had to take it all down for the winter yesterday :( but it's great to have outdoor entertainment space!

  3. OMG this is gorgeous!!! It looks like a great place to hang out with friends when the weather's nice...or not quite so nice, but not frigid. (Yay, ways to have open flame in urban settings!!) I'm going to have to try something like that with my patio...(well, maybe add an uncovered portion, at any rate, so that I can actually sit in the sun. And light a firepit without worrying about a stray spark catching on the underside of the bedroom.)

  7. What a fantastic redo! We've been talking about fixing up our back yard for a while - may have to show the hubbinator this post and see if we can get inspired to make stuff actually happen.
