Nails/NOTD: French Tips with NYX Girls - Sexy Plum and China Glaze - Ruby Pumps

I felt like playing around with my nails. I don't get the chance to paint them very often as I don't have much time, but I decided to neglect some other things (house chores!) to treat myself. I originally meant to just do a dark red coat then put the sparkly red on top all over. Part way through, I changed my mind and just did 3 coats of dark red and then bright red tips. I love how this turned out. I definitely will try it again with other colors.

I've worn Galaxy Girl several times but never over a black base. I'm thinking that I either needed to do more than one coat or it doesn't work well over black. It just didn't have the same look as it always did before. It's still pretty, but not how I was expecting it to turn out.

Nails/NOTD: China Glaze - Ruby Pumps French Tips

This is the nail look I created for this club makeup look posted here.  I've never done french tips before so I wasn't really sure what the heck I was doing. This was a little rushed, but I thought it turned out well considering I wasn't using french tip strips. I originally wanted to use a nude base but I didn't have the time, so I just went with a clear base coat, 3 red coats on the tips and then a top coat. Even though I let Ruby Pumps completely dry before applying the top coat, it picked up some red and transferred it onto the clear polish. :-(

This polish is kind of awkward to apply by itself, so I applied it over a black base which worked well. This was really hard to photograph. I could see various colours, but the camera just did not want to cooperate.

Nails/NOTD: China Glaze Liquid Leather + Sally Hansen Nail Prisms - Burgundy Orchid

I haven't worn this shade in a long time and this is the first time I've tried it over black. The various colour shifts seem much more visible when worn over black, and it saves more polish since I'm only using one coat of Burgundy Orchid instead of 3. It's soooo pretty! I keep staring at my nails!
