OOTD: Casual Steampunk Outfit

I call this a casual steampunk look because this is sort of steampunky but the main clothing is very casual for me. I wore this to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 last night, with our friends Sam and Rob. Was a great movie! But I'm sad that the series is over now. :-(
After the movie, we (my hubby and I) stopped by the grocery to grab a few things. There was a group of 4 young blonde girls. At first I thought they were cute teenie boppers, but then I heard one of them say, "OMG, that girl looks like a vampire!"  Seriously? How does this look come across as vampire? So annoying with how narrow minded and completely sheltered some people and their lives are. Oh well. I could have been a rude ass and said aloud how they were all dressed the same in their little gym shorts, flip-flops and designer t-shirts. But I'm not that way. :-)  But yes, I DID stare at them because I wanted them to know I heard them. My husband said I should have hissed at them and acted like I was putting a hex on them. I would not have been able to do something like that with a straight face. Ha!

figured I'd do a shot without the jacket. :-)

Ribbed tank: Old Navy

Jeggings (these actually have functioning pockets and a zipper and button!): eBay

Military style jacket: http://www.bodyc.com/  apperently they don't carry it anymore. Boo!

Cargo belt/purse: This was originally just a belt. I sewed D-rings on it, added some clasps to be able to clip my messenger bag onto it. Both the belt and bag were purchased from an army surplus store in Boulder, CO.

Boots: By Stuart Weitzman style Workit. These were originally $595 but I found them on eBay for $150. I AM the eBay queen! :-D

Steampunk battery necklace (I made this!): http://stores.ebay.com/Moon-Maiden-Jewelry

I'll post the makeup look that I am wearing here, later on today if I have time.

  2. Love it! You should have asked those girls if they were blood donors. That would've been good for a laugh.

  4. I love the outfit! I would have hissed just to get a laugh, and since when did dressing in black automatically make you a vampire wannabe? Close-mindedness bites.

  9. Maybe the dark lips made those kids think vampire? I don't get it though, you look great but no way near 'vampire-ish' to me. Next time wear fake fangs and some flowy dress ;)
    Cool outfit!

  11. I really love the jacket! I have something similar that I got from Suzy Shier for cheap (I am not sure if you have that store in the US...)

People really need to learn some manners and shut the f**k up. It is not polite to comment on the appearance of others unless one is paying a compliment to another person. I am absolutely astounded at the behaviour of some people, they really need to learn to mind their own business and get a life.

  13. Love the look and that jacket is quite hot.

Gotta day, I just stumbled upon your blog a few days ago and I absolutely love it and you. Just a question (don't know if anyone's asked before) - do you prep your lips somehow? Your lipstick always looks super smooth and not dry.

  14. I know the type of girls you mean; they all look the same, have no imagination in their clothes or make up, they usually are totally ignorant and source their opinions from CNN and Fox news :p

The boots are amazing looking! Am envious you found such a killer deal! X
