Purple look with Aromaleigh + Teal glitter liner

I meant to post this look yesterday, but I was making blueberry bread so I could make some french toast with it this morning. OMG yum! As soon as I was finished with baking, I did a Cathe Friedrich workout (Muscle Max) and it's 72 minutes long and it really kicks your butt. So after a typical 11 hour work day, putting makeup on, cleaning, baking, exercising and washing my sweaty arse, I just wanted to go to bed.
I don't talk about exercising very much or at all on here. It's something that is very important to me. More so than makeup! I'm a very active person. I work out 4-5 times a week, mostly doing muscle sculpting and conditioning. No, I'm not body building or trying to lose weight. It seriously pisses me off when people tell me I'm too skinny to work out. I don't care what size you are, everyone needs to work out for your HEALTH. It's good for your heart, helps you live longer and helps your brain. So even just walking a mile every day is good for you. On the days I don't workout, my husband and I go walk 3 miles or so (about an hour). It's decent exercise and gives us much needed quality time together.
Something you don't know is I spend more money on workout DVD's and equipment more than makeup. *gasp*  It's true! If I had to pick working out or wearing makeup the rest of my life, I'd choose working out.
So with that being said, I'm skinny, I've always been skinny and I'm just maintaining my fitness and health. :-P
My fav areas to workout are my abs and butt. Why? Well, I think those are the basic problem areas for women so I work them out very hard to keep them in check. Most people think you have to do hundreds of sit-ups every day to get flat sexy abs but it's a total myth. Do NOT do that. Basic sit-ups/crunches only do so much and are not enough. I have flat, rock hard abs and I don't even do 100 sit-ups or work my abs out every day for that matter. The key is quality not quantity. If you want nice abs, then get an ab DVD that concentrates on ALL muscles of the core (upper abs, mid abs, lower abs, obliques and back). And do it every other day. Abs are no different than the rest of your body and if you work them out, you should let them rest in between workouts.
So I know that kathyfuckingjacobs works out which is AWESOME! Anyone else on here workout? I'd like to be able to share and discuss workout tips with anyone who is interested. I am a Cathe whore and mainly do her workouts so I'd like to hear what others do. :-) On my tired days, I might do Gilad or Sharon Mann.  Cathe is freaking EVIL and I heard Jillian is evil too. I might be willing to give her a try.
Check out Cathe stuff here: http://cathe.com/

Anyway! Onto the makeup! Oh, and I think I found a good setting on my camera that doesn't make me look tan. Seriously took me forever! I had to change something, take a couple pics, change something take a couple pics and so on until I found the white balance and that is the only thing that worked. How annoying.

  4. Absolutely beautiful! I think I might go get me some NYX when I get monies! Do you like Hard Candy? As for working out...I'm in the process of setting up a workout routine. It's been so long that I'm trying to figure out what works best for me for now. I tend to like the camaraderie of classes, but don't have much money at present. :-( There are always excuses, right? hahah. I used to do Martial Arts, Dance, and soccer/jogging... so I'm trying to get back into at least jogging and dance (maybe belly dancing?), plus, of course, weight training. Most people don't know this, but your bone density is highest in your mid to late twenties... and muscle conditioning helps keep you from losing it! So... I definitely need to get on the ball! ^_^

  5. This is such a beautiful look! And I would love hearing more workout tips and such. I haven't worked out in a while. Maybe it would motivate me!

  7. So pretty! Love the liner with the combo!
I used to work out in high school until I went crazy. I would go to the point where I felt sick and keep on going because the time wasn't done yet or I didn't hit the 700 calorie mark :(
I want to try working out again but I have to wait until the fall when my asthma should be under control again and it's not so freakin humid!

  8. I love this look it's so soft but still bright and awesome. I like the lip gloss you made it's seriously pretty.

I want to work out, I enjoy walking and doing ballet warm ups but I suck at keeping myself going. I need to work out to get healthy I lead a very un-healthy lifestyle. >.<

  10. Girl!!! We truly are kindred spirits!! I'm a Cathelite!!! I have all her workouts too. She is having a Road Trip to her gym for her fans this weekend. One of my workout buds is there. I went 3 years ago and it was FUN!

I use videos for my exercise too. I do it 5 or 6 times a week. It's something I have been doing for almost 8 years. (I have well over 200 workout DVDs!!!)

Someday I'll have to post my dumbbell and workout video stash! I have my own gym practically in my home office. :)

  12. Your lipgloss is awesome. It actually reminds me a bit of Fyrinnae's Lollipop-pop.

The purple with the teal is nice. I like.

  14. I've got Jillian's 30-day shred, and I can confirm that she is kind of evil. The workouts are only around 22 minutes, though, so I don't know if I could hang with Cathe Friedrich yet - but I'm very interested in giving her a try.

I've got fatty deposits in my liver - well, maybe not so much at this point, but did a couple years ago - so I had to lose weight to get rid of them. The biggest thing for me was finding exercise I enjoyed, because I fucking HATED exercise, so it had to be something I liked for me to do it regularly. Which started out as bellydance and hooping. And then as I got more serious about bellydance, I worked in other cardio and strength training, telling myself I needed them for a solid foundation for my bd practice. Which is true, but also helped me stick with it. At this point, I am surprised to discover that I'm beginning to actually *like* working out, and I don't always need to tell myself "it's good for your bellydance" to get myself to do it. In fact, I kind of love the 30-day shred, and not just because it's so short (which is another good thing, because I really can't tell myself I don't have time), but I'm actually liking the hard work. I never would have expected that.

Anyways. For T, and whoever else is interested, I will highly recommend sparkpeople.com. They're like a totally FREE (seriously no strings attached) weight watchers - BUT they're not just for losing weight. You can also sign up just to help track and maintain your healthy lifestyle - which gives you access to all their free workout videos (which you can also buy on dvd, if you prefer or don't have a computer near your workout space). Also, they've got videos of 10-15 minute workouts, so easy to fit into your busy schedule if that's a concern.

Back to non-web exercise gabbing, before I found tribal style, I used Veena & Neena's bd dvds, and Dolphina's "Goddess Workout" (kind of inanely hippie-dippy, but still bd). I like Suhaila's fusion dvds (although I skipped getting the Jazz fusion one, I hear it's pretty lame), although I've only been doing the shred lately. And I don't know if you like books, but I do like New Rules of Lifting for Women, and Complete Book of Abs for Women (good focus on working *all* your core muscles, it seems).

And basically any bellydance-related exercise dvd ever, I will try. I've got Sharon Kihara's, Tempest's, the first two Rachel Brice's, Bozenka's shimmy dvd, several others - and just got some 10-min. "quickies" dvd from Netflix to try and see if I want to buy it. I'm hoping it's good for drills, and kind of demanding. We'll see.

I can't believe I just wrote so much, so eagerly, about exercise. Sorry to barf all over your comments, but...huge turnaround from two years ago, and now I'm actually excited to discuss this stuff with others. Anyway, thanks for the Cathe recommendation - if y'all have any more, I'd love to hear them.

  15. I love how the purples blend together and the colours look lovely on you.

I try and work out at least a couple of times a week. I used to go to the gym a lot at university but got out of the habit at the end of my final year when I was stressing out about my dissertation. I've just started going to the gym again and I love the ballet tone class I do, even though I look ridiculous trying to move around gracefully! I've tried exercising to DVDs in the past but I have so little self-discipline that I need an instructor to keep me on the straight and narrow.

  16. Thank you!

I love NYX but I've only tried one thing from Hard Candy which is mascara. It's fairly decent. :-)

I will do some posts on my fav workout DVD's soon. I may start a workout diary on here too to help motivate you lovely gals. It's good to buddy up with someone to help keep yourself going. Just watching fit tv inspires me and makes me want to work out!

Any dance is a great form of exercise!

I have tons of workout equipment so I rarely go to the gym. I'd like to post about some easy at home routines.

Holy crap kathy, that is a long comment! I think we may need to exchange emails!
