I'm sure many of you noticed that I recently chopped off a lot of hair. I'm wearing a half wig here that is almost the exact same color as my dyed hair. It's so much more comfortable than extensions and it's easy to blend in with your hair as it only covers the back half portion of your hair. You put it on, style your exposed hair over it and go!
So if you're looking for a more natural looking way to have a lot of length/volume without the commitment, I'd suggest a half (3/4) wig. I get mine from here: Annabelle's Wigs
