Dramatic Purple Eye Makeup Tutorial

This look was created using some eyeshadows, blushes and a lippie from Moi Mineral Cosmetics.

For a while now I've been using Coastal Scents Synthetic Brushes and I LOVE them! So I'll mention which brushes I used through out the tutorial.
Any part where you see me using the same brush more than once, I always wipe any excess shadow off of the brush before applying a new shadow. I use cloth diapers as my brush cleaner/wiper, rather than being wasteful and using tissue paper.  I always completely clean my brushes between each makeup look that I do (using Cinema Secrets brush cleaner), to keep them clean and to avoid color transfer.
Start by applying your favourite eye primer. I used Coastal Scents Shadow Worx Eye Primer. Then apply a very sticky base (Sobe's Stick It!, Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy or Darling Girls Cosmetics Glitter Glue all work great).

Apply Moi Mineral Cosmetics - Nightshift, to the crease, with CS's Classic Shadow Angle Synthetic Brush.

Apply Moi Mineral Cosmetics - Shiner, to outer 1/3 of lid, with CS's Classic Synthetic Blender Brush by patting and sweeping inward.

Apply Moi Mineral Cosmetics - Shiner, to outer V and outer lower lash line, with CS's Classic Shadow Angle Synthetic Brush.

Apply Moi Mineral Cosmetics - Passion, to the inner V and inner lid, with CS's Classic Detail Pointed Synthetic Brush by patting and sweeping outward.

Using CS's Classic Shadow Large Synthetic brush, apply a skin tone shadow or use a powder foundation to blend and soften any harsh edges.

Apply Moi Mineral Cosmetics - Nightshift, to the lower lash line and wing downward at the tear duct, with CS's Classic Liner Medium Synthetic Brush.

Apply a black liquid liner. I used e.l.f. Essential Liquid Eyeliner.

Apply fuax lashes, mascara and white liner to the water line, to complete the look.

For the rest of what is on my face:

Eyebrows: e.l.f. Baked Eyeshadow - Burnt Plum (applied with CS's Classic Liner Medium Synthetic Brush)

Lips: Moi Mineral Cosmetics Lipgloss - Beyond Eternity

Face:
Skin MD Shielding lotion
Sobe Botanicals Mineral Powder Foundation - Light Warm (applied with CS's small classic synthetic buffer brush)
Sobe Tinted Illusionist Powder (applied with CS's small classic synthetic buffer brush)
NYX blush - Taupe (applied just below the cheek bones to contour using CS's Classic Blush Small Angle Synthetic Brush)
Moi Mineral Cosmetics - Poison Berry (applied to cheek bones and blending back toward the hair line with CS's Classic Blush Large Angle Synthetic Brush)
Moi Mineral Cosmetics - Awakening (applied above cheek bones to highlight)

  1. Love iiiiiiiit! I do my eye make-up the other way around - lid colour first, then inner corner highlight and then crease. Maybe I should try it your way! Your looks are always so beautifully blended.

  4. Greetings from Finland! I have followed your blog for ages, so now I have courage enough to leave a comment: Thank You for your gorgeous blog. Your make up is always just wow and breathtaking, your eyes are so beautiful and YOU are so pretty :) Your hair look so nice and healthy, what is taht wine red color, it's looking very good on you! I am dreaming on wine/deep red or red black hair color, although I love my black hair (it suits me best). Sorry for my English, it's really sucks. And thanks again for yor blog, really enjoy reading it!

  5. Hi Blix I posted my first step by step tutorial this week, if you can find the time could you possibly take a look and give me a few pointers please? I'm really bad at photographing the makeup and I'm not really happy with how it turned out. The tutorial photos don't look anything like real life and the way the lighting/shadows is makes it look scruffy. Your tutorials are always amazing I would really appreciate your advice.
This look is gorgeous on you btw x

  7. The shape is great but I usually end up making a big fail out of it, with panda eyes. I need to try it again, thanks for the tutorial.
