Film Noir Inspired Makeup Look + Picture Tutorial

So here's the tutorial I promised you all. Sorry it came quite a bit later than I said. Um...I was busy. :-)  I busted out with my flapper wig. If only I could do my hair like this. That would be AWESOME. But since I don't know how to, I'll stick with the 5 second look with a wig. Hee hee.

I included glitter with this to try something different. I hope you like it! Remember to try this application with different colours! I prefer the dark wine with acid green for some reason so I do that most often. I need to step outside the box. I really want to try it with a dark green for the crease and a light sparkly purple for the center.

I apologize for my lips looking weird. They've been really dry today for some reason. Oh well!

Tutorial below!

Apply a very tiny amount of Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel (or whatever anti-crease primer you like) to the upper lid with ring finger, let it set about 30 seconds. Then apply Detrivore Eye Primer on top and the lower lash line (it's sticky, a little shimmery and makes eyeshadow more bold) using the ring finger as well.

Take a brush like MAC 217 (or any shader/blender brush you like) and apply Morgana's LE #5 just below the eyebrow and blend downward into the crease.

Take a brush like MAC 239 and pat Morgana's Uninvited Presence just to the very middle of the lid to the lash line.

Then apply the same shadow to the middle of the lower lash line with a small brush like MAC 228.

Take a brush like MAC 239 (or any shader brush you like) and apply Morgana's The Witching Hour to the crease and outer V by patting/sweeping.

Take a small brush like MAC 228 and apply the same shadow to the inner 1/3 of lower lash line by patting.

Take a brush like MAC 228 (or any shader brush you like) and apply Morgana's Chartreuse to the inner corner by patting.

Take a blending brush and soften the edges all around the eyes.

Use a glitter glue like Sally Girl Glitter Glue or Graftobian Glitter glue and apply a tiny amount just on top of Uninvited Presence on the upper lid. Then lightly pat Morgana's Elfin glitter on top. Totally got glitter in my eye for this...oops!

Take a liner brush like MAC 210 to mix with water and Kryolan Aquacolor liner - Black (the best liquid liner ever!) to get the consistency you like and gently, slowly apply to the upper lash line and extend outward to form a wing. Remember practice, patience and a steady hand will create lovely winged liner.

If you don't have Kryolan Aquacolor liner, then use whatever liner you want.

Apply false lashes (I used my FAV Ardell 113)

Apply NYX Jumbo Pencil in milk to the water line. Will make your eyes look bigger.
Then to finish the look, apply your fav mascara. I used Cover Girl Volume exact mascara in Very Black

Here's the rest of what is on my face:

Eyebrows: Ardell eyebrow powder in soft black (applied with MAC 266)

Lips: Avon Brilliant Brocade lipstick (discontinued *cries*)
Victoria's Secret lipgloss...I have no idea what it is...had it forever and the label is rubbed off. Still smells and tastes good though.

Face: Skin MD Shielding lotion
Physicians Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder in Translucent Light (applied using a flocked sponge by patting then blending)
AL rocks! sonic rouge in cherrybomb (applied to cheeks with a small angled blush brush)

If you have any questions, please let me know!

  4. The colour placement on this is gorgeous... Now that I have a proper set of eye brushes, I've been trying to experiment more with using 2-3 colours, and trying different ways of putting them together... baby steps! But I love how detailed yet simple this tutorial is :) and I have to get some Monistat Gel!
