Nails/NOTD: China Glaze Liquid Leather + Sally Hansen Nail Prisms - Burgundy Orchid

I haven't worn this shade in a long time and this is the first time I've tried it over black. The various colour shifts seem much more visible when worn over black, and it saves more polish since I'm only using one coat of Burgundy Orchid instead of 3. It's soooo pretty! I keep staring at my nails!

GLITTER! With this look I used just glitter instead of eyeshadows. It's much faster than doing my regular makeup. I just pat it on and don't have to worry about blending. Glitter got everywhere tho...I mean EVERYWHERE!

I've been MIA for a while due to being really sick. I mean really sick. So I haven't worn makeup or painted my nails on over a week. I'm starting to feel better so I painted my nails yesterday and should get back to regular makeup posts soon!

This is such a gorgeous colour! It mostly looks like a deep sparkly plum to me, but it changes depending on the angle and lighting. Love this!

Perfume Organization/storage (sprays + roll-ons)

Here's how I have my perfume organized. Most of it is organized close to my jewelry, so you'll get a peak into how I organize some of my jewelry too.

This is where all the yummy smelly stuff is. The mirror on the wall has 3 shelves where I keep my spray perfumes. There is a silver perfume tray on the left of the dresser that has more "regular" perfumes you can buy just about anywhere. To the right of the chest is my lotions and deodorants that I use daily. All my other scented lotions are in my bathroom. The chest is where I store my roll-ons and most of my jewelry. To the right on the wall, I use an old neck-tie hanger for my longer necklaces so they don't get tangled. The chest was a Christmas gift from my husband. It's a tool chest for storing old antique tools. :-)

Most of these are Cleanse Your Soul, Isle of Eden and Skindescent.

Chest needs to be stained to match the rest of my dark furniture!

The hubby helped make the little dividers to keep the perfume from falling over (was like a domino effect without it!). I made labels for some of the roll-ons so I could read them without having to take them out to see what they are.

Jewelry in the rest of the drawers

Most of these are "regular" brand perfume, most of which were gifts. They are quite dusty as I don't use most of these very often.

Green and Blue Makeup look Picture Tutorial with Morgana Cryptoria

Figured it was time for me to do another picture tutorial. I'll try to do at least one a week. :-)

Start with a clean eye area and apply your fav anti-crease primer. I used coastal Scents Shadow Worx Primer. After that I applied Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy all around the eye.

Apply Morgana Cryptoria's Broomstick, starting at the outer corner, sweeping inward just above the crease.

Apply Morgana Cryptoria's Beowulf to outer half of lid, blending up and into the crease.

Apply Morgana Cryptoria's Ectoplasm to inner half of lid, sweeping outward.

Apply the same shadow to the inner half of lower lash line.

Apply Beowulf to outer lower lash line.

Apply Morgana Cryptoria's Mysterious Veil to inner corner/V.

Blend Beowulf inward a bit more.

Use a flesh coloured shadow and apply it just below the eyebrow, blending downward.

Use a blending brush and soften the lower lash line.

Apply your fav black liquid liner to lash line and wing out. I used Kryolan Aqua Color liner in black.

Apply NYX jumbo Pencil in Milk to the water line.

Apply your fav mascara to the lower lashes and Ardell lashes #113 and you are finished!

Rainbow Glitter Party Makeup look!

So the rainbow isn't that this really looks like a rainbow, but more that this glitter has every colour of the rainbow. It's insanely sparkly! Something in this glitter stained my lids (light pink dots on my lids when I washed this off)...makes me wonder if the glitter is even eye safe. Never had a glitter stain my lids before!

I wore this look out with some friends to a club. Was a lot of fun. Will post pictures from the night soon!

So here's the tutorial for this look! If anyone tries this and posts it on their blog (even if it's with different colours), please send me the link. I'd love to see what you come up with. :-)

Start with a clean eye area and apply your fav anti-crease primer. I used coastal Scnet Shadow Worx Primer. After that I applied Detrivore Eye Primer (original) all around the eye.

Take a blending brush and apply Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadow in In a Bind (shimmery black) to the crease, start at the outer crease and blending inward.

Take an angled taklon brush (like MAC 266) and apply Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadow in In a Bind to the lash line, starting with the outer eye, sweeping into the inner corner, creating a point.

With a shadow brush, apply Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadow in Plum Crazy, to outer half of lid by patting.

Apply Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadow in Ultra Violet to outer V with a blending brush and sweep into the crease.

Apply Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadow in Champagne to inner lid with a shadow brush by patting and blending outward.

Using a small shadow brush, apply Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadow in Ultra Violet to outer half of lash line, sweeping it outward and up.

Using a blending brush, apply Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadow in Divine, just below the eyebrow and blend downward.

Apply Morgana Cryptoria's Snowsheen (matte white) just below the inner corner to accent the point.

I felt like the lower lash line liner wasn't dark enough. So I traced over top of it with Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadow in Unzipped (matte black) with an angled taklon brush. I also applied TKB's Gold Sparks on top of Champagne, but it's hard to see in the close up pictures.

Apply your fav black liquid liner to lash line and wing out. I used Kryolan Aqua Color liner in black.

Apply a black liner to the water line. I used BH Cosmetics gel liner in Onyx.

Apply half lashes to outer lower lash line. I used some cheap lashes and cut them in half to use as half lashes.

To finish the look, apply Ardell lashes in #113 (my FAV!)

A lot of you liked my Gold, Blue and Black Makeup look, and Uma Puma requested that I do a tutorial of that look, but use violet/orchid shades instead of blue. So here's the look I came up with. I hope these are the type of colours you were going for.

I was one of those weird makeup ruts. Most of the time I don't have a plan when I start doing my makeup, I just think of a colour I'm in the mood for, grab a shadow in that shade and then randomly go from there. So while my looks seem very well put together, like I put a lot of thought into them, I just sort of let my first thoughts and instincts take over. So as I said, it's very random. Most of the time that works for me but sometimes...it doesn't. Palettes work during these rare makeup rut days because all the shadows are in one place and it's easier to pick something out. That's how this look was created. Not bad for being in a rut I guess. *shrugs*

Normally I wouldn't take so many photos of my nails, but this one looked so different depending on the angle and lighting. So you can see how amazing it is! I keep staring at my nails! This flashes pink, purple, blue and teal! Maybe even green!

Lunar Eclipse Eye Makeup Picture Tutorial

Here's the tutorial for the Lunar Eclipse look I did recently.

Click below for tutorial.

Start with applying your favourite anti-crease primer (I used Coastal Scents Shadow Worx). Then apply Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy.

Take a large shadow brush and apply Morgana Cryptoria's Snowsheen (matte white) to outer half of lid by patting.

With a small angled taklon brush, wet with water, then apply Morgana Cryptoria's All Holos-Gleam to the outer lower lash line and work your way out and up, creating a semi cut crease.

Use a small shadow brush and apply more All Holos-Gleam to outer crease by patting then blending.

Using the same small angled taklon brush, apply All Holos-Gleam to inner corner with a fine point, working outward.

Apply Morgana Cryptoria's Mystic Midnight to inner lid by patting, then blending outward onto Showsheen, keeping the edge cut.

With a large blending brush, apply Morgana Cryptoria's Snowsheen under the brow by patting and working your way downward. Be careful not to blend the cut edge of the inner shadows.

At this point I decided to connect to inner and the outer shadows by using the small angled taklon brush and applying more All holos-Gleam to the inner crease and blending to meet the outer crease.

With a small shadow brush, apply Morgana Cryptoria's Ethereal Veil just below the inner corner by patting and gently blending outward.

Apply more All Holos-Gleam to outer cut crease for a deeper look and blend well.

Apply black liner to upper lash line and to water line. For the lash line, I used my FAV liquid liner, Kryalon Aqua color liner in black and used a small liner brush like MAC 210. For the water line, I used BH Cosmetics gel liner in Onyx with a small angled taklon brush.

To finish the look, apply your favourite mascara. I used Avon's Super shock mascara in black.

Lunar Eclipse Makeup look with Morgana Cryptoria

This is my Lunar Eclipse inspired look for Never Too Much Sparkle's Showcase theme (duh, Lunar Eclipse). I wasn't really sure what to do for this look. So I started with a partial cut crease around a matte white shadow to resemble a moon. Then just went with whatever I felt like doing after that. I really didn't put too much thought into it. I don't think this lipstick paired very well with the eyes.

I did a picture tutorial for this one so I won't list what was used. Once I get the tutorial up, I will add a link here so those of you interested, can go see what was used and how this was created. :-)

Blue and Purple Glitter Makeup look with Medusa's Makeup

Recently, I ordered some Medusa's Makeup glitter. I already have a few of their glitter colours, but wanted to check out more. Mix Blitz is so amazingly gorgeous! So I had to try that one first. I wore this last night. We had a casual night of friends over for playing video games. Of course some would say this makeup look is too dramatic or crazy for a simple night of staying in and gaming. So why do a look like this? Well, why the hell not? :-) I wear makeup for myself, not for others. On the rare occasion, I will however, wear some looks for the hubby or for my makeup whore friends who request that I wear a specific look so they can see it in person.
Also, this gloss has some colour, but it mainly settled on the inside of my lips, which gave them this porcelain baby doll lip look.

I be feeling better too. :-)

This is a look I did yesterday. I'm still feeling really crummy and I'm surprised I don't look sick at all in these pictures. I can't sleep because I can't stop coughing up gross stuff. While this polish is pretty, it was disappointing. I thought it would be a darker pink and much more opaque when applied, but I was wrong. Even with 3 coats, it's see through and bright barbie pink. :-/ Next time I'll try it over black and see how that turns out.

My Christmas shtuff...

This year I wasn't sure if I wanted to share with you, what gifts I received for Christmas. I know some of you see it as bragging, but I always love seeing what other people wanted and received. I'm fairly hard to shop for. I'm one of those people that if I see something I REALLY want, I'll find a way to buy it myself, even if that means saving up for a few months to do so.

The #1 thing I wanted was another pair of steampunk boots. I wanted them so much that I told my husband, I'd be fine it that was the only thing I got. He got them!

I've been wanting the Alice game since it came out this year. I could have bought it at any point, but I knew my husband was wanting to get it for me. I don't write in diaries, but my husband got this as it has a bunch of Alphonse Mucha art work inside. Which is my fav!

This last gift was a huge surprise! Since I'm all about makeup, Jason was looking for months for an antique powder compact. I had no idea! This compact is 90 years old, is sterling silver, has a sterling silver chain wrist strap, a mirror and MEM engraved on the front. OK so those aren't quite my initials, but it's close. My first name is Emily, my last name starts with an M and everyone calls me Em or just M. My husband sometimes calls me "My exquisite M" so that's why the MEM worked out. :-) Such a sweet and thoughtful gift! I cleaned it and added a MAC pressed face powder to it so that I can use it. :-) But haven't taken pictures of the MAC powder in it.

This is one of those polishes that I just can't photograph well. In person there is some purple to it, but all I can catch is blue. Still looks really pretty, but not as pretty as it is in person. Oh well!

This weeks Never Too Much Sparkle's themed showcase: REVERSE SMOKEY EYE USING RED AND/OR GREEN, is probably the first theme I didn't want to participate in. Why? I really don't like reverse smokey eyes. Never have and probably never will. I just don't care for how it looks, especially on me. I think it mainly works for people who don't have a lot of space to work with their upper eye area, but for me (having a large upper eye area) I think it makes me look weird. My husband doesn't like the reverse smokey look on me either. But I stepped out of my comfort zone and did this theme anyway. I made it very Christmasy! :-D

This polish seemed thin so I applied it over a black polish. I then swatched 2 layers of it on its own and realized it would have been totally fine on its own. Oh well...next time I'll wear it alone since the black base really made it too dark and looked navy blue instead of purple. :-/

With this look I tried something different. I watched a video a long time ago about how some people use concealer as an eyeshadow base instead of getting an actual base. I wanted to see if a concealer would work the same so I applied an anti-crease primer, then applied concealer cream to my lids and blended with my ring finger. I applied the shadows and at first I was thinking it seemed to be the same. But once I started blending...it's not as good. The shadows lost their shimmer and turned out much more dull and looked matte to me. So I would not recommend using concealer as an eyeshadow base!

Regardless, I still like how this turned out. :-)

Nails/NOTD: NYX Girls - Ink Heart

This polish is the first one by NYX Girls that I was a bit disappointed with. The colour is so awesome! Even my husband likes it. This reminds me of dark blue ink from a pen. It is darker than the pictures show too. The formula for this one was a little weird. It is not runny, but it sort of bled once I applied it, like a runny polish would do when you put WAY TOO much. I applied it neatly, in thin layers and it would still run, move or bleed. It looks like I needed to do 3 coats instead of two as it ended up being thinner in some spots. It was a pain to work with. I might try a black base and add this on top next time and see if that would work better.

Cherry Culture review...not happy.

For those of you who follow my blog, know that I don't review products or companies very often. The reason being is I mainly don't have much time to write reviews and most of the time I don't feel it necessary to review something, unless it's either super amazing or so bad I need to tell people it needs to be avoided

So here goes. On November 12th, I placed an order with Cherry Culture for several NYX items that were on sale at the time (nail polishes and some eyeshadows). My order was processed and shipped on November 23rd. I received my package on November 29th. Before I opened it, I knew something was wrong since I ordered several nail polishes and the box wasn't nearly heavy enough to be polishes. So I opened it, sure enough it was not my order and the packing slip was for someone else and their order.

I immediately called Cherry Culture's customer service and didn't get through. I called again and left voice mail. I then emailed their customer service and waited a couple days. I never heard from them. So I went ahead emailed the other person whom the order belonged to and let her know I had her order and wanted to know if she had mine. I heard back from her right away, she did have my order and she had also considered contacting me as she had not heard back from Cherry Culture either. She was extremely nice and that same day we agreed to get our orders out to each other.

I got my order in a few days and so did she. My order was fine, nothing missing or broken. I was happy that we were able to help each other out. :-) On December 5th, I finally got an email back from Cherry Culture asking me to return the package and they would send out the correct one after they received it. So I realize if I would have waited to hear back rather than taking care of it myself, I'd still be without my order for at least a couple more weeks. Which I'm not OK with.

Over the past 2 years, I've ordered from Cherry Culture many times with no problems. So this was very disappointing to me. My order was mixed up. Someone I don't know received a packing slip with my personal information (and I had hers) and it took them over a week to respond. I know it's the Holidays and it gets very busy, but this was unacceptable. I might order from them again, but it won't be any time soon.

Has anyone else had any problems with ordering from Cherry Culture?

Snow Queen/Blue Winter Makeup look with Morgana Cryptoria

When thinking of a look to do for Never Too Much Sparkle's themed showcase: BLUE WINTER, my first thought was to do a blue and white look. Once I started picking out the products I wanted to use, I felt like using a bright silver glitter would be better in place of white shadow. I was going to use a silver lipstick that I thought I had from Morgana, but I don't! So I used one called "Ice Queen", which I think went well and perhaps better than the silver would have gone with it.

I did not wear false lashes this time as I didn't want them taking away from the whole look. :-)

I got the opportunity to shop at Sam's stash last weekend! So here's a look I did using the goodies I got from her. :-) Thanks Sampants for the samples!

I wore this to a Holiday Networking party. The party SUCKED. But this is what I wore.

Chafing Relief Powder-Gel (applied to upper lid, blending in gently with ring finger)

Detrivore original eye primer (applied all around the eyes patting then rubbing in gently with ring finger)

elf -innocent (applied under brow with MAC 217 by patting/sweeping)

Morgana - LE #5 (applied to inner corner with MAC 228 by patting)

Geek Chic -Rose Tint My World (applied to inner V with MAC 228 by patting/sweeping)

Shiro - Enrichment Center (applied to of lid, crease and lower lash line by patting)

Sweet Libertine - Blue emperor Dragonfly (applied to outer V with MAC 239)

SMH - Unzipped (applied to outer crease with MAC 217 by patting and lightly sweeping)

Kryolan Aqua Color liner - black (applied wet with water, using MAC 210 on upper lash line)

This is a more wearable version of the GALAXY look I did. Instead of using multiple glitter colours, I just used one. I wore it to Sam's (tubcat) house so she could see it in person. It is sooo much more sparkly than the pictures show. Sam can tell you that!
